TEEJ: A festival that sparkles a lady from within ^_^

TEEJ: FESTIVAL OF TRUST & PRAYERS

Teej is a interesting festival celebrated by Nepali married ladies wishing for the long life of her husband and long and firm relationship between each other  until the death of them and all the other future lives to come. Teej is observed in order to cherish the marital happiness, well-being of spouse and children and purification of own body and soul of Nepali women. Teej is  the most famous festival among Nepali women which is believed to influence the long being of husband if the wife genuinely prays for his betterment on this very day.

In our country, Teej is usually celebrated every year in the month of Bhadra. Teej is hugely celebrated in Nepal. Dressed up in red sarees and red tika, bangles, women sing and dance to traditional folk songs for days. It is specially significant for married women, when they get a special invitation to visit their maternal home and feast.Following a long feast also known as Dar, the women, sit for a 24 hour long fasting , where most do not eat or even drink water. What can be more fascinating to watch than women of all age group, young and old, dance for hours in the heat , rain, without a drop of water or food for an entire day. Almost every temple on day of Teej is crowded by hundreds & thousands of women draped in red & green attires who are busy dancing the pain & patience of entire year away.

It feels like a dream to find myself outside JM, at home sitting in front my desktop writing this blog about my experience at JM, remembering the memories of past 11 years. Speaking about my experience, I found JM to be more like home where you are loved but also scolded for your mistakes, a place every teenager would look for. School, a place you don’t f...
